Ready, set, GO!

Will and I are getting everything together for the big trip. We have spent the past month getting all the proper paperwork filed, looking for tickets under the price allowance, stocking up on our favorite American products, and strategically packing our suitcases to try to bring exactly the weight limit of 150lbs evenly divided between 3 suitcases. Good thing I stopped working the end of March to play secretary for Will. He even calls me his secretary to co-workers, who may actually think he has one :). I'm ok with that as I have recently been watching Mad Men and like the persona of a fifties secretary.
We have been so blessed to have good friends who helped give us a fun farewell. Will had a work happy hour where he had about 30 people stop by to send him off. I'll mention as a side note that my happy hour had 9 show...a more intimate affair :). We also had a Minneapolis party with old and new friends and some delicious Hot Turkey from New Prague. If you have not had New Prague Hot Turkey you are most certainly not living a fulfilled life. This past weekend we had a "BBQ" with old friends from college in Iowa. I use "BBQ" lightly as it was 45 degrees and rainy, so we ordered Casey's pizza instead. We had a great time playing games where the girls dominated all. Luckily, most people know I'm not a mushy goodbye person so a nice hug and good wishes is all I can handle.

Saturday Will's parents came to Ames to have some good ol' Hickory Park and a nice going away dinner with both of our parents. I was super sneaky and "went to the bathroom" and paid the bill before either set of parents could object. My first successful attempt to pick up the check- Happy Mother's/Father's Day!

Today's agenda is last minute trips to Walmart, finishing Mad Men season 3, quality time with Scutero, thorough bathing (we will be in transit for 26 hours and I want to start extra clean...) and grilling my last American meal for a while.

We leave Minneapolis Monday at 2:30pm and arrive Wednesday morning in Auckland at 6am. We have a 1 hour layover in Phoenix and 4 hours in LAX. We plan to have a nice dinner at LAX and a night cap to help us sleep on the plane. A friend told me to keep watch for the Kardashians while I'm there- we'll post pics of any celebs we might see :).

My busy work for the plane is embroidery, movies on the laptop, reading gossip magazines, sleeping and snacking. Will's agenda is sleeping and reading PwC's IFRS to US GAAP differences and Journal of Accountancy. Who's going to have more fun??

We'll let you all know how our first week goes!
